A meeting of the Senate Standing committee on Inter provincial Coordination was held the Parliament House to elect its Chairman as contemplated by Rule 184(1) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate, 2012.
Senator Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan Nasar was unanimously elected as Chairman of the Committee.
While extending felicitations, Leader of the House in the Senate Raja Muhammad Zafar ul Haq said that the Committee has a very important role to play to resolve issues related to provincial. Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, Sherry Rehman observed that post-eighteen constitutional amendment scenario is important and the committee has a crucial role to play in this regard as there is need to further strengthen relations between the federating units and the centre. Senator Raza Rabbani assuring his cooperation said that the committee has to play an assertive role to protect the rights of provinces. Other members of the Committee also greeted Sardar Yaqoob Nasar and assured their cooperation.
The meeting was also attended by Senators Lt. Gen ( R ) Salahuddin Tirmizi, Rahila Magsi, Sherry Rehman, Mian Raza Rabbani, Faisal Javed and Abida Muhammad Azeem.
