Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs in a seminar titled, “Kashmir and Palestine: 70 years UN Resolutions for self-determination”, has termed 14 May a black day in World history when United States shifted its Embassy to Jerusalem and followed this condemnable act by using force on innocent Palestinians killing more than 70 people.
The Seminar was held in Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services with Prime Minister AJ&K Raja Farooq Haider, Palestinian Ambassador to Pakistan and Chairman of the Committee Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed as key note speakers.
Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed while emphasizing the importance of the Palestinian cause said that in March 1940 on the day when Muslim League resolved to protect the right to self- determination for Muslims of sub-continent, it also resolved to stand for the rights of the Palestinian people by means of too separate resolutions.
He said that this year marks 70 years of the UN resolutions on Kashmir and Palestine which call for the eternal principle of plebiscite and self-determination. ”Indo-Israel nexus backed by the United States is not a coincidence”, he observed. He said Muslims need to come together to be able to see through this triangle of evil.
Palestinian Ambassador during his address to the participants of the seminar said that it has been 70 years since Palestine has been occupied and it will require another Salahuddin to bring the Muslim Ummah together and liberate Al-Quds. He observed that till 2000 US was taken as the principal negotiator in the Palestine issue but now it has become very clean that US administration is part of the problem not solution. He said that Palestine is a cause for not just Palestinians but every Muslim.
