Press Release Title: Senator Rana Mahmood Ul Hassan, Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat presiding over a meeting of the committee at Parliament House Islamabad.

The Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat held a crucial meeting today chaired by Senator Rana Mahmood Ul Hassan. The session was attended by senators Farooq Hamid Naek, Saleem Mandiwalla, Saadia Abbasi, Amir Waliuddin Chishti, Mohammad Abdul Qadir, Samina Mumtaz Zehri, Jan Muhammad, Syed Waqar Mehdi, Dr. Afnan Ullah Khan and Senator Sherry Rehman. The committee thoroughly examined the Government Bill titled “The Virtual Assets Bill, 2025.” The bill was introduced by Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhary, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, on behalf of Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, Minister for Finance and Revenue, during the Senate sitting on August 15, 2025. Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb also attended today’s meeting. The committee highlighting its significance for Pakistan’s financial ecosystem. The bill aims to establish a dedicated regulatory authority for licensing and supervision of virtual asset service providers, ensuring investor protection, transparency, and market integrity. After thorough deliberation and review, the Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat approved the Virtual Assets Bill, 2025, signaling a major step toward regulating and formalizing Pakistan’s virtual asset sector.   Earlier in the meeting, Calling Attention Notice of Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri regarding the alarming statistic reported by United Nations fact-finding Mission’s report of August 2024, pertaining to massive destruction and displacement caused by floods in Sindh and Balochistan” was also disposed of after briefing.
