H.E. Mr. Hamad Obaid Ibrahim, Salem Al-Zaabi, Ambassador of United Arab Emirates to Pakistan, held a meeting with the Pakistan-UAE Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Senate here at the Parliament House on Tuesday.
Senator Muhammad Ayub, Convener of the Pakistan-UAE Friendship Group welcomed the UAE Ambassador and highlighted the need to translate the existing level of goodwill between the two countries to boost bilateral trade and enhance the frequency of parliamentary exchanges between UAE and Pakistan. He underscored that UAE is Pakistan’s largest trading partner in the Middle East & North Africa region with an annual trade volume of US $ 8 Billion and expressed Pakistan’s vision of expanding trade opportunities for benefit of the people of both the countries. He also shared the important role of 1.6 Million Pakistanis residing in the UAE in strengthening ties between the two countries.
H.E. Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al-Zaabi noted that a strategic relationship was important to further improve socio-economic ties between the two countries. The Ambassador underscored the need to develop strategic partnership to streamline trade opportunities and provide security to investors from both countries. He also shared the potential of tourism related investment in Pakistan. The UAE envoy also highlighted the upcoming 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Both sides agreed for calling a joint meeting of the friendship groups of the two countries to identify areas for enhancing Parliamentary cooperation to strengthen bilateral relations.
The meeting was attended by Senator Muhammad Ayub, Senator Behramand Khan Tangi, and Senior officials from the Ministry of foreign affairs.
