A meeting between Parliamentary Development Unit and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)-Pakistan was held at the Parliament House, Islamabad. During the meeting, potential areas of a prospective partnership were discussed at length. It was agreed to hold further discussions and explore possibilities for holding briefings and capacity building sessions on climate change for Honorable Senators, provision of support to the Senate Secretariat in the subject of circular economy, and green office. Provision of and attaching experts of relevant subjects with Committees of the Senate was also discussed so as honourable lawmakers benefit from the pool of experts of WWF-Pakistan.
The WWF gave briefing about their work in Pakistan and expressed keen desire to engage with Honorable Members of the Senate so as the issue of climate change are effectively and meaningfully discussed at the policy level. Both sides agreed to continue the discussion on establishing a partnership via possible Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) including mutually agreed upon priority areas of work in the relevant areas.
