The Senate Defence Committee received a comprehensive briefing on the border fencing issue with Afghanistan as well as military situation with India, both on the Line of Control and international border. During the meeting of Senate Defence Committee, presided by Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, the Ministry of Defence, led by Secretary Defence, Lt. Gen. (R) Mian Mohammad Hilal Hussain and his team, gave a detailed briefing on the situation. The members present asked specific questions and expressed satisfaction at the briefing and support to the Pakistan armed forces’ efforts in their role to preserve, protect and promote Pakistan’s territorial integrity and national borders on the Western and Eastern sides.
The Defence Committee was also given a detailed briefing on the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for 2022-23 with specific reference to projects and allocations in different departments of the Ministry of Defence, including education, medical, national security, Pakistan Maritime Security Agency, Survey of Pakistan and other related departments. The members reviewed the projects individually and after detailed briefing, endorsed the proposals of the Ministry of Defence. The members also lauded the professionalism of the various department of the Ministry of Defence especially the due diligence over quality as well as quantity of expenditure.
