Event Title: Chairman Senate, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani Addressing the Internees of Senate Summer Internship Program at Parliament House, Islamabad

While addressing the ceremony held in connection with Certificated distribution of Senate Internship Program , the Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said that involvement of youth in parliamentary processes is not merely beneficial but essentia as the potential of our youth to drive societal change is immense.

"By incorporating their perspectives into our democratic processes, we not only invigorate our institutions but also ensure that our laws and policies reflect the needs and aspirations of a significant segment of our population", the Chairman Senate remarked while addressing the participants.

He extended heartfelt commendations to the  young participants for their remarkable contributions to the Senate, its committees, and the Secretariat.

He observed the energy, enthusiasm, and fresh perspectives of the young interns have made a significant impact, enhancing the functions and processes of the legislative body.

He stated that the global trend of increasing youth participation in legislative chambers underscores their desire to be actively involved in shaping governance. He hoped that such involvement would lead to more effective legislative oversight and ensure that government policies address the concerns of young citizens.

He said that the ceremony's proximity to Independence Day further underscores its significance. Chairman Senate acknowledged and said that historically, youth have played pivotal roles in shaping political systems and driving social change.

Our founding father, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, recognized this potential and urged the youth to prepare themselves for nation-building. His vision remains relevant today: our youth are the architects of the future and must be equipped with the skills and opportunities to contribute meaningfully to our nation's progress,he stated in his address.

The Senate Internship Program, he observed , aligns with this vision by providing a structured pathway for young individuals to engage with parliamentary processes. While appreciating the initiative , Chairman Senate said that it will not only benefits the Senate but also equip interns with practical experience and insights.

Secretary Senate Syed Hasnain Haider also commended the interns and expressed gratitude to Chairman Senate relaunch of the internship program. He highlighted salient features of the program. He said that institutional linkage with academia carries high significance and we aim to benefit from the new ideas and innovative approaches to enhance institutional capacity and provide exposure to the young generation to learn enrich their experiences.
