Event Title: Senator Syed Waqar Mehdi, Chairman Senate Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges presiding over a Meeting of the Committee at Parliament Lodges Islamabad

The Senate Standing Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges, chaired by Senator Syed Waqar Mehdi, held session on Wednesday at the Old PIPS Hall, Parliament Lodges, Islamabad. The meeting centered on privilege motions, institutional accountability, and serious breaches of parliamentary directives.

The Committee *unanimously rejected the inquiry report* submitted by the Punjab Home Department regarding the *non-production of Senator Ejaz Chaudhry* during the Budget session, despite Production Orders issued by the Chairman Senate on *January 13 and March 7, 2025 “We want the orders of the Chairman Senate to be implemented,” stressed Chairman Committee Senator Waqar Mehdi. “In the next session, Senator Ejaz Chaudhry must be brought before the Parliament. This is non-negotiable.”

The Committee expressed *grave displeasure* over the continued absence of Senator Ejaz Chaudhry from both the House and the Committee proceedings, terming it a direct violation of the Chairman Senate's privilege. “Why didn’t you bring Ejaz Chaudhry during the budget session?” questioned Senator Faisal Saleem Rahman.Despite repeated assurances, he was not presented,” he added.

Senator Saadia Abbasi strongly asserted that The privilege of the Chairman Senate has been violated. If we let this go, then what is the point of our authority?”

Senator Dr. Humayun Mohmand added that We must examine which offices are failing to comply with the orders of which position in this state structure.”

Chairman Waqar Mehdi issued a firm directive stating to make all necessary arrangements. In the next meeting, Ejaz Chaudhry must appear before the Committee.”

Motion of Privilege Against Secretary C\&W Balochistan Postponed

The Committee also took up the *Privilege Motion moved by Senator Mir Dostain Khan Domki* against *Secretary Communication & Works (C\&W), Government of Balochistan, Mr. Lal Jan Jaffar*, whose repeated absence from Committee proceedings has raised eyebrows. “I made calls on November 11 and 12, but the Secretary did not answer,” said Senator Domki.  “Senator Faisal Sabzwari added, “He replied in writing that no calls were received, but Senator Domki has presented call records.” 

The Committee expressed concern over *contradictory statements* and *non-responsiveness* by Secretary Lal Jan, prompting strong remarks:

In an unexpected turn, *Secretary Lal Jan Jaffar apologized* to Senator Domki during the meeting, but the *motion of privilege was postponed* to the next session for further examination.
 
The Committee also decided to *write to the Chief Secretary Balochistan* seeking details of Lal Jan’s recruitment and cadre change, along with a complete service record.

### *Additional Privilege Motions Addressed*

* The Committee discussed a motion against *Deputy Secretary Izazullah Shah* of the Ministry of Information Technology for **misleading the minister in the Committee under the chairperson of Senator Palwasha Muhammad Zai the chairperson along with other members reprimanded the deputy secretary in a previous session. However Senator Palwasha Muhammad Zai Khan accepted  the apology

Senator Abdul Shakoor Khan report regarding the *missing official file* of House No. 622, Street No. 99, Sector I-10/4, Islamabad was deferred

A privilege motion by Senator Syed Masroor Ahsan was heard concerning the *misconduct* of *Mr. Asad Ullah*, Chief Operating Officer, Karachi Water & Sewerage Corporation (KWSC), during a session on May 29, 2025.

The Committee emphasized the importance of parliamentary accountability and reaffirmed its resolve to uphold the authority and sanctity of the Senate 
 

The meeting was attended by Senator Dost Ali Jeesar, Syed Faisal Ali Sabzwari,  Faisal Saleem Rahman, Senator Saadia Abbasi, Raja Nasir Abbas, Palwasha Muhammad Zai Khan , Dr. Afnan Ullah Khan, Nadeem Ahmed Bhutoo, Mohammad Humayun Mohmand, Mir Dostain Khan Domki and Senator Syed Masroor Ahsan were present in the meeting
