Event Title: Ms. Misbah Khar, Advisor to the Chairman Senate and Ambassador of the International Speakers Conference (ISC), gave an exclusive interview to a private television channel, focusing on the origin, objectives, and future vision of the ISC.

Event Date: 2025-11-21

Ms. Khar explained that the ISC was established to bring the world together on pressing global challenges including climate resilience, economic fragmentation, inequality, and collective security. She stated that Pakistan is proud to have hosted the inaugural session of the ISC, marking a historic milestone for the nation.

Highlighting the significance of the initiative, Ms. Khar shared that the ISC is an inter-parliamentary forum comprising 45 speakers from across the globe. This year, the conference successfully convened delegates from 38 nations representing the Global South and Global North, including speakers, deputy speakers, parliamentarians, and three former presidents. Participants attended from the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Europe—along with prominent figures such as the head of The Washington Times.

The theme for the conference—Peace, Security, and Development—was profoundly relevant, especially given Pakistan’s long-standing role as a victim of terrorism. Ms. Khar noted that despite a terrorist attack occurring on the very day of the conference, all international delegates stood firmly with Pakistan, demonstrating unity and resilience.

A major outcome of the conference was the Islamabad Communiqué, a comprehensive document unanimously adopted by all participants. The communiqué outlines a cooperative global approach to addressing terrorism, climate change, economic inequality, cyber threats, and Islamophobia.

Speaking on the subject of Islamophobia, Ms. Khar emphasized the need for collective efforts to counter extremism and reshape global perceptions of Islam and Muslim countries. She highlighted that Islam is a progressive and modern religion and stressed the importance of education and narrative transformation.

Addressing climate and security challenges, Ms. Khar shared that many delegates were visiting Pakistan for the first time and were pleasantly surprised by the country’s hospitality, development, and vibrancy—contrary to negative international portrayals. She underscored the importance of such conferences in reshaping Pakistan’s image, building global partnerships, and fostering new development ideas.

Ms. Khar extended appreciation to her team, acknowledging the unwavering support of the Senate under the leadership of Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, terming the ISC his “brainchild.” She also commended the contributions of the Senate staff, particularly Director General Protocol Mr. Tariq bin Waheed, as well as the media and all officials involved. She noted the unity demonstrated by national leadership—including the Prime Minister, the Speaker, and Federal Ministers—reflecting Pakistan’s national strength.

Discussing challenges, she noted that inviting high-profile dignitaries with demanding schedules was a major task, yet their overwhelmingly positive experience has encouraged many to express their desire to return. Several new countries have also shown interest in joining the ISC.

Ms. Khar expressed her commitment to continue serving Pakistan through public service, driven by a desire to contribute to national development and the common good. She highlighted the transformative impact of ISC in improving Pakistan’s global image and attracting interest from international investors.

She also addressed issues faced by women and the need for greater acceptance of female leadership. Emphasizing the importance of youth, she described Pakistan as a progressive, friendly, and liberal nation with immense potential. She reiterated the need to ensure security to protect foreign investment and encouraged a progressive mindset in society—one that allows and respects women’s participation in the workforce and national policymaking.
