Ambassador of Algeria to Pakistan, Mr. Brahim Romani, called on Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani at the Parliament House. The meeting was held in a warm and cordial atmosphere, during which both sides engaged in an in-depth discussion on bilateral relations, parliamentary cooperation, regional developments, and matters of mutual interest.
Chairman Senate warmly welcomed the Ambassador and expressed appreciation for Algeria’s active participation in the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC). He noted that the presence of the Algerian delegation reflected the deep-rooted friendship, mutual respect, and shared principles that have long shaped Pakistan–Algeria relations. He added that the history of ties between the two nations is marked by solidarity, common values, and consistent support for each other on global platforms.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on enhancing high-level engagements, including regular parliamentary exchanges, the formation of joint parliamentary mechanisms, and strengthening cooperation across the political, economic, cultural, and educational sectors. Chairman Gilani emphasized that increased parliamentary interaction would help open new avenues of coordination and further deepen people-to-people linkages.
The Algerian Ambassador conveyed a special message from the leadership of Algeria and presented a formal invitation from the President of the Algerian Senate for Chairman Gilani to visit Algeria. He underscored that Algeria attaches great importance to its relations with Pakistan and is keen to expand cooperation in trade, investment, parliamentary diplomacy, and multilateral fora.
The Ambassador also commended the leadership and statesmanship of Chairman Senate Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, appreciating his vision for regional peace, development, and constructive parliamentary engagement. He conveyed best wishes from the Algerian leadership for the Chairman and the people of Pakistan.
Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation on parliamentary platforms, including the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference, and discussed future possibilities for joint sessions, expert-level exchanges, and establishing a structured cooperation framework.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of mutual respect, shared commitment, and a collective resolve to further strengthen the longstanding Pakistan–Algeria partnership.
