Event Title: Officers and Faculty Members of National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA), Peshawar are being briefed by Secretary Senate, Syed Husnain Haider about Working of Senate of Pakistan at Parliament House, Islamabad

A 41-member delegation of the 45th Mid-Career Management Course visited the Parliament House on Tuesday. Senior officers of the Senate Secretariat accorded a warm welcome to the delegation.
Secretary Senate, Syed Hasnain Haider, briefed the delegation on the constitutional role, powers, procedures, administrative structure, and functions of the Upper House. He stated that the Senate is the guarantor of equal representation of the federating units and plays a pivotal role in promoting national cohesion, while particularly safeguarding the rights and interests of the smaller provinces.
The Secretary Senate also apprised the delegation of the historical evolution of the Upper House and stated that the establishment of this House was undertaken to ensure equal representation of all provinces. He informed the delegation about the role and performance of the Standing Committees of the Senate, the parliamentary oversight mechanism, parliamentary diplomacy, international conferences hosted by the Senate, and other important matters. He further stated that the Senate plays a key role in strengthening governance by effectively contributing to the process of legislation and national policymaking.
During the briefing, members of the delegation demonstrated keen interest and actively participated in a comprehensive question-and-answer session, during which the Secretary Senate provided detailed and satisfactory responses to all queries raised by the participants.
Subsequently, the delegation was taken on a visit to the Senate Museum, where they were informed about Pakistan’s parliamentary system, various stages of legislation, and the constitutional role of the Senate. On this occasion, a documentary film based on the history of the Upper House was also screened. The delegation showed special interest in the statues of prominent national personalities and historical photographs displayed in the museum. Thereafter, the delegation visited the Senate Hall, where they were briefed on parliamentary traditions, procedures, and key stages of the legislative process. The delegation also visited Gali-e-Dastoor.
At the conclusion of the visit, members of the delegation appreciated the effective role of the Senate Secretariat in promoting democratic values, institutional transparency, and strengthening the parliamentary system. The participants termed the visit as highly informative and beneficial and expressed their gratitude to the Senate Secretariat for the guidance and cooperation extended to them. Joint Secretary Senate Rafiullah and Deputy Secretary Senate Muhammad Azam Sulheri were also present on the occasion.
