Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, in his special message on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, stated that 5th February symbolizes the unwavering solidarity of the Pakistani nation, Parliament, and state institutions with their Kashmiri brothers and sisters. He said that the day reaffirms Pakistan’s firm resolve to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Kashmiri people in their just struggle for the right to self-determination.

The Chairman Senate emphasized that the people of Kashmir have been making unparalleled sacrifices for decades in their pursuit of freedom. He said that gross human rights violations and continued Indian atrocities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) remain a serious test for the conscience of the international community, and its silence on these grave injustices is deeply regrettable.

Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani reiterated that Pakistan has always supported and will continue to support the legitimate right of self-determination of the Kashmiri people at diplomatic, political, and moral levels. He urged the United Nations and other international forums to ensure the implementation of their resolutions and to play an effective role in enabling the Kashmiri people to exercise their inalienable right.

Highlighting historical leadership on the Kashmir issue, the Chairman Senate said that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto raised the Kashmir cause at the United Nations with exceptional courage and vision, setting a golden chapter in history. He added that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto also forcefully highlighted the Kashmir issue at every international forum. He further noted that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari maintain a clear and principled stance on Kashmir, aligned with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

In his concluding remarks, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani stated that all political parties, the people of Pakistan, and state institutions are united on the Kashmir issue and reaffirm their commitment to a just resolution in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people and United Nations resolutions. He emphasized that Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan, and Pakistan will never abandon the Kashmiri people in their struggle.
