Multan:The 48th death anniversary of veteran Pakistan Movement leader and former Federal Minister Makhdoom Syed Alamdar Hussain Gilani, father of Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, was observed with reverence and devotion at the premises of Darbar Musa Pak Shaheed in Multan, where a Mehfil-e-Hamd-o-Naat was organized.
 
Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani attended the ceremony and, in his address, expressed gratitude to the distinguished scholars, elders, and guests who participated in the commemorative event. He highlighted the invaluable contributions of his late father to the Pakistan Movement and the nation-building process.
 
He noted that Makhdoom Syed Alamdar Hussain Gilani served as a Member of the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan and, after independence, held the portfolio of Minister for Health and Local Government. He further stated that his late father was among the signatories of the 1956 Constitution of Pakistan, underscoring his pivotal role in shaping the country’s constitutional framework.
 
Recalling a historic moment, Chairman Senate shared that his father once walked barefoot to pay homage at Mazar-e-Quaid, where he informed Muhammad Ali Jinnah that the Constitution had been finalized — a gesture reflecting his deep respect and commitment to the ideals of the nation’s founding leadership.
 
Tributes were paid to the late leader for his unwavering dedication to the Pakistan Movement and his lifelong public service. On the occasion, religious scholar Allama Farooq Khan Saeedi shed light on the late leader’s struggle and services, while the Sajjadah Nasheen of Darbar Musa Pak Shaheed, Makhdoom Syed Abul Hassan Gilani, offered a special collective prayer.
 
Among those present were Member National Assembly Syed Ali Musa Gilani, Member National Assembly Syed Ali Qasim Gilani, Member Provincial Assembly Syed Ali Haider Gilani, Senator Rana Mahmood-ul-Hassan, former Member Provincial Assembly Syed Ahmad Mujtaba Gilani, and Pakistan Peoples Party leader Malik Manzoor Domra, along with a large number of dignitaries and party workers.
