Senator Amir Waliuddin Chishti Reaffirms Full Support for CPSP’s Mission
Karachi: Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, Senator Amir Waliuddin Chishti, addressed a distinguished gathering of international medical education leaders at a grand dinner hosted by the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP). The dinner was held in honor of Presidents of Royal Colleges and heads of postgraduate medical education from 26 countries who were in Pakistan to attend CPSP’s International Conference on Medical Education. President of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, Prof. Rashid Latif also attended the event as Guest of Honor.
Addressing the gathering, Senator Amir Waliuddin Chishti conveyed gratitude to the visiting dignitaries on behalf of the Chairman of the Senate, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, as well as himself, for their presence and meaningful engagement with Pakistan’s medical education community.
In his remarks, the Chief Guest commended CPSP for setting strong regional benchmarks in postgraduate medical education and emphasized that such best practices must be effectively utilized and implemented to deliver tangible benefits for the country and its people. He stressed that learning from international experience and embedding these standards locally would contribute to improved healthcare delivery and stronger professional competence nationwide.
Senator Amir Waliuddin Chishti interacted with Presidents and senior representatives from the Royal Colleges of Glasgow, Edinburgh, Canada, Thailand, and South Africa, as well as the President of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), appreciating their contributions toward advancing global medical education.
Prof. Andrew Elder, President of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh also thanked CPSP on behalf of all international guests and praised the institution for maintaining world-class standards in higher medical education, acknowledging CPSP’s leadership role in the region.
Senator Amir Walliuddin Chisti concluded his speech by reiterating his personal commitment to CPSP’s mission of promoting excellence in postgraduate medical education and service to humanity.
