Eid-ul-Adha conveys the great message of sacrifice, selflessness, and brotherhood — Chairman Senate
Multan: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani said that on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, the poor and deserving should never be ignored. Instead, affluent individuals should include underprivileged people in their celebrations.
He said that the soldiers of the Pakistan Armed Forces have rendered unparalleled sacrifices for the defense of the country, and the entire nation pays tribute to its martyrs.
On the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, the Chairman Senate offered Eid prayers at Hazrat Musa Pak Shaheed, where special prayers were made for the security, progress, peace, and stability of the country, as well as for the oppressed Muslims of Kashmir and Palestine and for the Muslim Ummah.
While speaking to the media, Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani said that the United States is a superpower and has the right to express its opinion about anyone; however, Pakistan is playing a positive role for peace in the region. He added that Pakistan is acting as a facilitator and is continuing its diplomatic efforts to reduce regional tensions.
He strongly condemned incidents of terrorism, saying that terrorism is once again re-emerging in the country, but no leniency should be shown to terrorists, and the entire nation is united against terrorism.
Regarding the 28th Constitutional Amendment, he said it is not a secret matter; all affairs will be decided within the framework of the Constitution and Parliament.
He further said that political parties should try to provide maximum relief to the public in the upcoming budget.
On provincial matters, Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani stated that Bilawal Bhutto’s statement regarding provinces is in front of everyone. He emphasized that all political parties should develop consensus, and where differences exist, improvements should be made through consultation.
He added that the largest development budget for South Punjab was released during the Pakistan Peoples Party’s tenure, but proper utilization of development funds is also essential.
He said that the real job of parliamentarians is legislation and constitution-making, while the construction of streets and provision of basic facilities is the responsibility of local government institutions. He added that he has always believed in grassroots-level politics and prioritizes resolving public issues.
The Chairman Senate said that Pakistan and China enjoy exemplary relations and are all-weather friends. He added that the future is linked with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which will not only bring prosperity but also create new employment opportunities.
Responding to a question about completing the government’s term, he said Pakistan cannot afford further experiments; all institutions and political forces must operate within the Constitution.
He added that he does not want to create difficulties for the government but believes in strengthening democratic and constitutional processes.
Regarding the gymkhana issue, Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani said that he had provided land and funds for the project, and now it is the government’s responsibility to make decisions regarding it.
