Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani Felicitates Nation on 79th Independence Day
Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has extended heartfelt felicitations to the nation on Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day, paying tribute to the sacrifices of the Muslims of the subcontinent and the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in achieving an independent homeland.
The Chairman Senate said August 14 reminds the nation of the priceless blessing of freedom and the sacrifices of its forefathers. He stressed that safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty, security, democracy and prosperity was a shared national responsibility.
Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said the teachings of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal, particularly the principles of unity, faith and discipline, should continue to guide the nation. He emphasized national unity, political stability, constitutional supremacy, rule of law and mutual respect.
He said Pakistan’s future was closely linked with its youth, stressing the need for quality education, skills and employment opportunities to enable them to contribute to national development.
The Chairman Senate paid tribute to the Pakistan Armed Forces and security institutions for their sacrifices in defending the motherland, combating terrorism and maintaining peace. He said Parliament would continue to strengthen democracy, uphold the Constitution and protect the rights of the people.
He called upon the nation to set aside differences, prioritize the national interest and renew its commitment to building a strong, peaceful, prosperous, developed and democratic Pakistan in accordance with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam.
He prayed for Pakistan’s security, stability, progress and prosperity and for the continued unity and strength of the nation.
