QUFU, China: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani’s video message was aired at the 2026 China International Confucius Culture Festival, held in Qufu, the historic hometown of Confucius.
In his message, Chairman Gilani extended warm greetings to the participants, scholars and distinguished guests, underscoring the enduring relevance of Confucius’ teachings on learning, friendship, harmony and mutual respect.
Reflecting on Pakistan-China relations, the Chairman noted that as the two countries mark 75 years of diplomatic relations in 2026, their friendship represents a relationship built on trust, mutual respect, support and a shared commitment to peace and development. He highlighted the enduring strength of the two countries’ “iron brotherhood” and its contribution to regional stability.
Chairman Gilani also highlighted the growing role of education, cultural exchange and people-to-people contacts in bringing the peoples of Pakistan and China closer. He particularly underscored the contribution of Confucius Institutes in Pakistani universities in promoting language and cultural understanding.
Calling for greater opportunities for young people to learn from one another, he stressed the need to deepen exchanges in literature, education, science, technology and culture, enabling the two civilizations to connect through ideas, knowledge and human understanding.
Chairman Senate expressed the hope that the festival would further promote mutual understanding and bring the peoples of Pakistan and China closer, observing that the most enduring bridges are built not only with stone and steel, but also with knowledge, friendship and the human heart.
