Syed Ehsan Shah was born on 12 December, 1959 at Turbat on the coastal line of Balochistan. After his early education and technical training in auto-engineering, he took to business and looked after the family projects. His interest in the social welfare of the area led him to be a member of the Municipal Committee Turbat. He is a member of the Pakistan National Party and was elected to Senate in 1991 for a six- year term. He is a member of the Senate Standing Committees on Communication, Railways, Works, Environment, Urban Affairs and also of the Functional Committee on the Problems of Less-Developed Areas.
