Makhdoom Syed Muhammad Israr Hussain Shah was born in Faisalabad on 15 December, 1939. After his early education at Aitchison College Lahore, he joined the Govern- ment College Lahore for further studies.
Makhdoom Sahib started his political career by join i ng Pakistan Muslim League and has been Vice-President of the Pakistan Muslim League, Punjab. He has visited the United States, the UK, Canada, Saudi Arabia and many other European and African countries.
He was elected to the Senate in 1991 for a six-year term. He is a member of the Senate Standing Committees on Communications and Railways, and Information and Broadcasting.
