REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON RULES OF PROCEDURE AND

PRIVILEGES - PRESENTATION OF:

 

9.      SENATOR DR. JEHANZEB JAMALDINI, Chairman, Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges, to present report of the Committee, on the breach of privilege of the House due to non-presence of Senior Officers (officers in    BPS-20 and above) of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources in the Official Gallery of the Senate on 3rd August, 2015, during discussion on a Motion under rule 218.

MOTION

 

10.    SENATOR SYED MUZAFAR HUSSAIN SHAH, Convener, Special Committee on the issue of lapse of foreign scholarships offered by various countries for the students of Pakistan, to move that under sub-rule (1) of      rule 194 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate, 2012, the time for presentation of report of the Special Committee on the said issue as referred by the Chairman Senate, for consideration and report within two months, be extended for a period of thirty working days with effect from         19th September, 2015, as more time is needed for presentation of report to the House, as the various Ministries of the Federal Government dealing with grant of Scholarships have not been able to compile the list of communications for the same as yet.

PERIODICAL REPORTS BY MINISTERS ON MATTERS REFERRED BY THE HOUSE

 

 

11.    Periodical reports by Ministers on the following matters referred by the House and recommendations made by the Committee, under rule 265A of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate, 2012:-

 

(i)

Report by the Minister for Railways regarding the following recommendations made by the Standing Committee on Railways:-

 

   (a)  Recommendations of the Joint Enquiry Committee constituted to probe into the accident of special Military Train occurred on 2nd July, 2015 should be implemented in true letter and spirit and within stipulated time frame;

 

   (b)  Maximum compensation in terms of cash and kind to deceased/injured persons during the accident be provided by the Federal Government. Ministry of Railways may approach the competent forum in this regard under intimation to this Secretariat;

 

   (c)  All vacant vacancies in the Ministry and its attached departments should be filled on priority under the defined transparent procedure and approved criteria; and

 

   (d)  Pay package of the personnel serving in Railways Police should be brought at par with the Motorways Police. Ministry should initiate the case in this regard on priority;

 

(ii)

Report by the Minister for Climate Change regarding the geological changes in Gilgit and Hunza with particular reference to Miachir Mountain which is sliding downwards, raised by Senator Muhammad Talha Mehmood, on 7th July, 2015;

 

(iii)

Report by the Minister for Climate Change regarding the apprehension of earthquakes in Pakistan due to location of Pakistan on seismic fault line, raised by Senator Chaudhary Tanvir Khan, on 11th August, 2015; and

 

(iv)

Report by the Minister for Commerce regarding delayed purchase of cotton from the growers by the TCP which causes huge monetary loss to the growers of cotton, raised by Senator Hari Ram, on 8th July, 2015.

 

CALLING ATTENTION NOTICE

 

12.    SENATOR PROFESSOR SAJID MIR to draw attention of the Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs to a matter of sufficient public importance regarding the sit-ins outside the Pakistan Embassy at Athens since 24th August, 2015 by a large number of Pakistanis residing in Greece, against corruption and bribe being taken on a large scale by the Embassy staff.

 

DISCUSSION ON THE ADMITTED ADJOURNMENT MOTION

 

13.    Discussion on the admitted adjournment motion moved by Senator Muhammad Javed Abbasi on 7th August, 2015, regarding the status and steps taken by the Government for the construction and rehabilitation of the 2005 earthquake affected areas.
